The application helps develop and host automated call handling systems. Developing and running an IVR application is made simple, as is other computer and telephony integrated applications.
Pros: A very important part of customer relationship management is making relevant information available to customers when they call in for finding such information. IVR and other voice response systems are a group of applications that has assumed importance today. CT Developer Studio provides a simple and quick way of developing such applications. For a start one can get going with templates supplied with the application. Customization consists of adding up components with connectors into a flowchart that follows the flow of a incoming/ outgoing call. Once developed the simulator module lets the program developed to run so that it can be tested fully.
ODBC connections to databases make sure applications handling large loads work well. The CT studio could handle hundreds of phone lines and concurrent calls.
The user interface is quite intuitive and icon based and is able to hide the complexity of developing advanced call center functionality or complex IVR scripts. The CT studio is able to handle a range of computer telephony cards from vendors like Intel/Dialogic, NMS and Ai-Logix.
Cons: With CTI applications the host system should be able to handle large demands on its resources on a real-time basis. Plain vanilla Wintel machines may not be able to handle loads realistic in a business. Today’s multi-core processors will be well suited to handle this issue but then this application would need to be upgraded to take care of multi core situation.
Overall a useful development environment and serves an important development area with easy to use tools. Certainly a 4 star package.
